Matariki is a constellation for navagating and timing the season to grow and harvest crops. The Matariki stars are known as the seven sisters as there are 7 stars. The stars rise late May early June , but is celebrated in many different times. As for our celebration in our Whanau groups we each did something to show. In yellow they made Rewena bread and fry bread. In blue they made instruments. In green they made art to represent each member in their family. In red we also did art such as we made representative patterns on a paper feather and made a coat and we weaves the Matariki stars using paper, that was really tricky. After we went back to the hall to share a bit of what we had done.
