Recently I participated in the Hawera speech and drama competitions at the Hawera Savage club. In the Monday and Tuesday in did the comps I recited and presented 7 pieces, 3 poems ( Rain by James K Baxter, The Leaves by anonymous and Jack frost by John P Smeeton.) , 2 readings ( one sight reading from The ACB with Honora Lee by Kate De Goldi and a prepared reading from Matilda by Roald Dahl) , an improvisation ( there is a power cut so you light a candle then drop it, what would you do?) and my prepared talk ( Mamma Mia). After 3 pieces have been done the award the results and I got...
1st place for my prepared talk
3rd place for my improvisation
Very highly commended for 2 other pieces and 1 highly commended
Which I found very good for my first comps ever.
Overall the other children competing did good and I felt I did too! Cant wait to go back next year to do even better!
