Hot cross bun recipe ( using a Breville bread maker)

290mls water
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 Tbsp oil/butter
1tsp salt
2Tbsp sugar
3 1/2 Cups Bread flour
3 Tbsp milk powder
2 1/4 Yeast
1 Tbsp mixed spice
1 Tbsp cinnamon
  1. Place ingredients in bread pan in exact order listed in the recipe.
  2. wipe any spills from outside of bread pan
  3. Lock the bread pan into position and close the lid
  4. Press SELECT  button to - 12- Dough
  5. Press START/STOP button
  6. At the end of the program, press Start/ Stop button
  7. The dough is now ready for handling!
Ingredients- Part 2

1 Cup sultanas
1/4 mixed peel
2 Tbsp water
1/4C flour

Method-  Part 2
  1. Once sultanas and mixed peel  have been added,  divide dough into eighteen pieces. Place close together on a greased tray
  2. Loosley cover with plastic wrap and leave in warm place for 20 minutes or until doubled in size.
  3. Mix together flour and water until a smooth paste is made
  4. Using a small nozzle pipe a cross on each bun ( it is easier to pipe going one way across all buns then turn and do the other line)
  5. Bake in a pre- heated ove at 190 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden
  6. Place bun on cooling tray and brush with glaze.
( Hot cross bun glaze-
1/2 C icing sugar
1/4 tsp all spice
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 Tbsp water
Combine until thin enough to drizzle)

Ready to be cooked

Crosses have been piped

Fresh from the oven

Finished with the glaze
